Celebrate May Day with an afternoon of demonstrations and handson activities designed to help you cultivate a garden that’s welcoming for birds, bees, and butterflies! All ages are welcome.
- Suzanne MalecMcKenna, Executive Director, Chicago Wilderness, will kick off the event with a talk titled “How Wild Can Our Yards Be?” She will share ideas about what Evanston residents can do to support the effort in our yards, parks, waterways, and lakefront.
- Demonstrations and handson activities will help you learn how to provide key elements of a wildlifefriendly garden: food, shelter, places to raise young, and water.
- Planting of 300 saplings of birdfriendly shrubs in the Ladd Arboretum.
- Children’s activities.
Free birdfriendly shrub saplings for the first 70 people to arrive.
