Natural Habitat Evanston May Day Celebration!

When: Sunday, May 1, 2016 Time: 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Where: Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd.

Celebrate May Day with an afternoon of demonstrations and hands­on activities designed to help you cultivate a garden that’s welcoming for birds, bees, and butterflies! All ages are welcome.

Highlights:

  • Suzanne Malec­McKenna, Executive Director, Chicago Wilderness, will kick off the event with a talk titled “How Wild Can Our Yards Be?” She will share ideas about what Evanston residents can do to support the effort in our yards, parks, waterways, and lakefront.
  • Demonstrations and hands­on activities will help you learn how to provide key elements of a wildlife­friendly garden: food, shelter, places to raise young, and water.
  • Planting of 300 saplings of bird­friendly shrubs in the Ladd Arboretum.
  • Children’s activities.

Free bird­friendly shrub saplings for the first 70 people to arrive.
